Jen Psaki, White House press secretary, spoke to TikTok users on Thursday. She claimed that Russia “hacked” 2016 U.S. presidential elections. Psaki pointed out that unlike other diplomatic conflicts with Russia and that the U.S. government had declassified relevant information for the public during a briefing for TikTok influencedrs.

Truth is the best antidote for disinformation. Psaki explained that one of the major steps he’s taken and made a decision about was to declassify information over several months.

Psaki stated to the group of influencers that Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and 2016, and then again in 2016.

Russian hackers may have been behind the theft of emails from Democratic officials such as John Podesta. However, there is no evidence they tampered or manipulated election results in the 2016 hacking spree.

Psaki was joined by a National Security Council official, who added to Psaki’s statements about Russian disinformation and said that the White House’s accurate prediction that Ukraine would invade has given it more credibility.

“I believe we have a lot of credibility now, and we were not crying wolf.” The official stated that every step they predicted the Russians would take, they have taken.”

“Hopefully that will have helped reduce their credibility in disinformation. It is still a daily battle where we are constantly trying to discredit things they say, accusations that they make that have no basis in reality.

A Washington Post reporter posted a recording of the White House briefing online.
