There’s a big difference between saying you’re going to do something and actually doing it. Mayor Ted Wheeler of Portland has proven that he’s all talk and no show – and residents have taken advantage of that.
“There will be no autonomous zone in Portland.”
Mayor Wheeler made this promise last week. So, is there law and order throughout the city? Nope. Not even close.
Select progressives have decided that they don’t want residents to be evicted out of a particular home, identified as “The Red House.” Well, that’s what happens when bills aren’t paid.

Even though the mayor has said that the police have the authority to do what it takes to clean up the issue, the issue is still going on.
The barricades that have been set up by the radicals look like something that’s straight out of a war-torn third-world country. The barricade is three blocks wide in some areas – and in some, there’s also a six-layer fence.
The officers continue to show up on-site to address the issue – though protesters are getting increasingly more violent. It’s clear that they have a weapon stockpile, too.
It’s funny how the radical leftists want to tout gun control – and then manage to stockpile guns at the same time.
The area was illegally occupied throughout the weekend. It’s only gotten worse.
Chuck Lovell, the Portland Police Bureau Chief has said that he’s aware of the weapons and the “presence of firearms.”
Considering that so many Democratic cities have decided to put cops on the defensive, the Portland Police Department doesn’t want to go in guns blazing. After all, if any of the cops have to defend themselves using deadly force, it’s possible that they could find themselves in jail. Many don’t want to take the risk anymore – and it’s one of the reasons why this autonomous zone is only growing in size.
Both the mayor and the police have threatened to use force if necessary and enforce the law. Their goal is to restore the neighborhood. Great, then do it. Their inactions are only leading to more layers around the border walls.
The leftists want to see evictions come to an end. Signs identify the land as “indigenous” because the evicted property in question was owned by a Black and Indigenous couple. However, the second loan they have on their house went into default, which led to the eviction.
Evictions happen. Banks give out loans in good faith expecting that the individuals will pay. Banks aren’t capable of just handing out properties. Work to earn an income and pay the loan. It’s that simple – but the radical leftists want to demand that evictions go away. Rather than taking proper actions, they’ve created an autonomous zone to make demands they have no right to demand.
Although there is word that an agreement has been made, Mayor Wheeler’s office has yet to confirm. Further, the barricades remain. They’re slow to pull anything down because they don’t want to. They want to show that they are anarchists and that they can remain because Democratic leadership doesn’t have the strength to move them.
Has the military been called in? No. The problem would have gone away within a day had Wheeler simply picked up the phone to call in the National Guard.
Although the autonomous zone may be slowly breaking down now that an agreement has been struck, there has been no lesson learned. If anything, the radical left will decide that the best way to take action in the future is by setting up more autonomous zones. The city negotiated with terrorists. That’s a big no-no, but they did it anyway.
There has to come a time when the radical lefts are told “No.” Stockpiling weapons and blocking access to public roads is illegal. They can either abide by the law or they can be arrested and sent to jail. Offering anything else is simply showing that the leadership is weak.
