Many Californians have grown tired of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s approach to COVID-19, and the restrictions and fines he’s suffocated small businesses in. In an effort to launch a recall, nearly 2 million signatures were collected to place the recall on the ballot. Campaign organizers set a goal of nearly 2 million signatures, since 1.5 million of those need to be validated by election officials in order to be recognized. In efforts to defend his political seat, Gov. Newsom launched a political committee to characterize the recall as a “right-wing extremist” tactic that was looking to “slip” a Republican governor into the bluest state in the country.
The recall efforts, named “Stop the Republican Recall,” has been supported by a number of radical left politicians and have already received a $250,000 contribution from the California Democrat Party. They blamed “anti-mask anti-vax extremists,” as well as “pro-Trump forces” for trying to undermine democracy and play partisan games in the golden state.
Gov. Newsom’s campaign urged supporters to sign a petition opposing the “Republican recall effort” and accused them of trying to throw him out of the governor’s mansion. “And let’s just call it what it is: it’s a partisan, Republican recall — backed by the RNC, anti-mask and anti-vax extremists, and pro-Trump forces that want to overturn the last election and have opposed much of what we have done to fight the pandemic. If they are successful, it would mean risking the progress we are making to end the pandemic. We can’t let that happen,” Newsom wrote.

Radical left democrats, such as Sen. Bernie Sanders, Cory Booker, and Elizabeth Warren, accused Republicans of “ignoring the scientists” and putting “too much at stake” by wasting critical taxpayers dollars to recall the California leader.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki also addressed the campaign and said the Biden Administration shares a commitment on a “range of issues” with Newsom and oppose any efforts to recall him. They claimed Newsom had “kept Californians safe and helped them recover financially” during the pandemic.
However, recall campaign organizers said that 38% of the petition signatures have come from independents and Democrats, adding that the registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by nearly 2 to 1. They shared frustrations over health orders that have kept schools shut, permanently closed businesses, launched a massive unemployment benefits fraud scandal, and were restricted by stay-at-home orders, while Gov. Newsom dined with friends and families maskless at one of the most expensive restaurants in the state, The French Laundry.
There’s nothing ‘partisan’ about a recall election. It’s an American right to gather, collect signatures, campaign, and demand the elected officials they want. It’s just that Democrats don’t like to get called out for anything. ‘Personal accountability isn’t anywhere in their guidelines.
