In this day and age, it’s rare to see the kind of political respect and yet courage that Nikki Haley possesses. All too often in politics, building someone up means tearing down someone else, taking what could have been a rousing discussion on nearly any topic and turning it into a personal confrontation. Haley, however, has proved that she can fully make her point and yet not say a bad word about the opposition.
A recent example of this is how she spoke of former vice president and now official Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden at the opening of the Republican National Convention last Monday. And she used the same tactic again on Tuesday morning in an interview with Fox & Friends.
Suffice it say that she is killing Biden with kindness.
I mean, what else would you call this?

“Joe Biden is a very good guy. I know him, I mean, he’s just as nice as they come. But that’s just the problem.”
She goes to describe just what she means by explaining her time in the United Nations as an ambassador. She said, “We saw what happens when you try and be nice at the United Nations. Basically everybody was running over America when (Barack) Obama and Biden were in there.”
And she’s right. As she says, “the U.N. is not for the faint of heart.” Instead, she describes it as a place where “dictators, murderers, and thieves denounce America, and then put their hands out and demand that we pay their bills.”
It’s where Obama gave his “red line” on Syrian chemical weapons use, you know, the one that was crossed and nothing was done about it.
It’s also where, under Obama’s appointment, then-State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf made her now infamous line about us not being able to “kill our way out of this war.” Essentially, this meant that we couldn’t retaliate when the Islamic State group decided to take control over whatever territory they liked and snuff out lives like it was their job.
And, of course, we can’t forget about Obama’s famous Iranian nuclear deal, which allowed the cold-hearted leaders of Tehran to threaten not only the existence of America’s closest ally in the Middle East and in so doing the United States herself.
I would add that these are but a few of the deals and trades Obama and Biden made while trying to play nice with the leaders of the world.
And where has it gotten us?
By the end of the Obama/Biden regime, the United States was essentially a servant to those like China and Iran. We paid out billions every year to countries who then turned around and used that money against us. It even allowed leaders like Iran’s General Qassem Soleimani to come to power, which Biden himself seemed to vouch for.
We have become the laughing stock of the U.N. and to the world. And all because we were too nice.
Thankfully, Trump isn’t.
As Haley points out, he knows exactly how to handle foreign policy, and it not by worrying about someone’s fragile emotions or whether or not he has offended them.
During his rather tumultuous three years in office, Trump as effectively cut the legs off of the Islamic State, rendering them not nearly as dangerous. He also ordered the strike that killed Gen. Soleimani and practically crippled the Iranian military’s efforts to harm us and our allies. And just this month, Trump bartered a deal that finally establishes peace between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, Trump has been in a constant battle with China, our largest economic and military rival. And as Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi already admitted, Beijing wants Biden to win in November so they can continue to run over America at every turn. As it stands with Trump, they cannot do that.
Haley knows well that if the United States is to succeed in negotiations with any nation, we need a leader who isn’t afraid to stand his ground and be firm.
Biden clearly isn’t that person, as his children so clearly displayed during the DNC’s convention. He might be a super nice guy who, as his kids would say, would do just about anything for you. But as we know, nice guys don’t always make good leaders.
