Dems Pivot: On Second Thought, Let’s Not Vote by Mail

As you well know, for the last six months or so, the Democrats have heavily pushed the idea of mail-in voting for both primaries and the upcoming November general election. And they have had much success at it, as thousands upon thousands have decided to use this method of voting for their state’s primaries.

But with each passing primary and month, it seems that less and less Democrats actually want to vote by mail after all. In fact, in the last month or so, several high-profile Democrats have even come out against mail-in voting, suggesting that people should go to the poles in person after all, albeit early.

New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one such person, as is failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Even the very “at-risk” Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has stated he supports going to the poll in person now and did so to vote in his home state’s primary last week.

So why the sudden change?

You will note that it was a mere month or so ago that all of these individuals, as well as those like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, were railing about the supposed dangers of voting in person. According to them, it was simply unsafe and would likely cause another massive round of COVID-19 outbreaks throughout the country.

Some have claimed this abrupt pivot as a way for Dems to deny President Trump the ability to claim fraudulent voting activity, should he lose after having all the mail-in votes counted, presumably some weeks later.

However, there is another theory and one that holds a bit more water in comparison.

It seems that as more state primaries take place, and the subsequent totals of votes counted or rejected are tallied, Democrats are finding that mail-in voting just might have too many problems for them to afford at this point.

Now, correct me if I’m wrong here, but isn’t this precisely what President Trump has been saying for months?

And the proof just keeps rolling in…

As Axios has recently reported, many states have had to reject thousands and thousands of mail-in ballots for some reason or another, whether it’s a missing signature, not the right kind of postage, or a missing envelope.

“A fresh Pennsylvania state Supreme Court ruling could impact tens of thousands of ballots in that swing state. In Florida, voters are twice as likely to have their absentee ballot rejected if they’ve never voted that way before… In North Carolina, ‘Black voter’s ballots are being rejected at more than four times the rate of white voters,’ per FiveThirtyEight. Overall, data shows new, younger, Black, and Hispanic voters are more likely to have their ballots rejected.”

The outlet noted that in all, more than 550,000 mail-in votes have been rejected during the presidential primaries so far this year, according to NPR.

That’s 550,000 votes that simply didn’t count. And these were primary elections – where only a fraction of the number of registered voters actually do so.

But what makes this really scary for Democrats is that most of these rejected votes were from their own party.

You see, while the Democrats have been busy spouting off the dangers of in-person voting and convincing their party members to vote by mail, Trump has essentially been doing precisely the opposite.

What has resulted is near partisan split, right down the middle. Most of those who vote to the left of center or Democrat say they will vote by mail, while nearly all those who consider themselves to be Republican or conservative will actually go to the polls.

So on election day and the days shortly afterward, when thousands of votes begin to be tallied, where will the most problems be? Which party will likely have the most errors to contend with or the most votes rejected?

You got it: The Democrats.

And that has left them rather worried, to say the least.

They are worried enough that they are now changing their minds entirely on voting by mail, at least for this year. But just like their sudden flip-flop on rioting and violence, most of the damage has already been done. And they have no to blame but themselves.
